PRESERVE OUR HERITAGE. PLAN OUR FUTURE.

CANYON COUNTY NEEDS CHANGE.

The county and cities within it have not been working together effectively.  When they don’t have a collaborative relationship, it’s the citizens who suffer.  Projects are inefficient, misplaced and often allowed to go wherever there’s the least resistance instead of where they would most benefit the community.

WHAT CANYON COUNTY NEEDS.

We’re stronger when we work together.  Growth needs to be carefully planned, not just reacted to. The county should be collaborating with their cities and setting a good example. To protect our agricultural lands, we must help focus the growth back into city centers, so we don’t end up with sprawl. Growth will happen one way or another, will it be up or out. One preserves our agricultural heritage, one does not.

WHAT I WILL DO WHEN ELECTED.

I’m a convener and a collaborator and my professional experience has relied on those skills for many years.  I’ll communicate with city leadership across the county to make sure we’re working together, not competing with each other’s interests.  Growth in Canyon County isn’t thoughtful, it’s erratic.  It’s not all bad, but it needs to be thought out and planned in coordination with cities so we can focus it on where it’s needed, not where it has the least red tape.

I’ll bring a balanced approach to growth in Canyon County.  Some development is necessary, but we need to preserve what is special and sacred about Canyon County before it’s lost forever.  Farmland and the seed industry are critical to our economy and to our local heritage. We can make smart choices now or reap what we sow in the future which could leave Canyon County unrecognizable.

MY MISSION

Restore collaboration between the county and the cities within it.

Increase transparency and responsiveness between the county and citizens for them to better understand projects and the process of government.

I want to balance development in Canyon County through careful planning and collaboration with cities and developers in order to protect our agricultural lands and heritage.

We must continue to make improvements with infrastructure and county services to prepare our community for tomorrow.

I want to protect the things that make Canyon County special and unique but farms and ranches are critical to Canyon County’s economy and culture and we need to preserve them. We also must continue the pro-business environment we have in order to continue to drive economic development and commercial tax revenue.
